Brilliant! Ruth Lande Shuman Receives British Architecture Award

Good news has arrived from across the pond: Publicolor’s Founder+President, Ruth Lande Shuman, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The presentation took place in London on February 1.

Ruth is being honored for Publicolor’s impact in using color and design to transform the message of disrespect found in the built environments of marginalized communities. An award-winning industrial designer with a specialty in the psychological effects of color, Ruth has spearheaded the revitalization of 233 New York City public schools and 231 under-resourced community facilities since Publicolor’s founding in 1996.

RIBA Honorary Fellowships reward the contributions people have made to architecture in its broadest sense: its promotion, administration and outreach, its role in building more sustainable communities, and its impact on the education of future generations. Ruth joins an exemplary group of 14 Honorary Fellows this year, including Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, Maria Balshaw, Director of Tate Museums, and Pablo Bronstein, artist and performer.

To the newly appointed Ruth Lande Shuman, Hon FRIBA – hip hip hooray!
